THE ROLE

This is a senior and high profile role within the Marketing & Business Development team. Reporting to the International Director of Marketing & BD and working closely with Executive sponsors you will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of our well established International Client Relationship Programme. This includes our bespoke Client Management Methodology, established Key Account Management (KAM) framework, Client Listening and our client-facing in house lawyer programme (WIN).

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic input to the future direction of the client programmes portfolio on behalf of the M&BD team
  • Develop, shape and implement the varied workstreams which sit within the client programmes portfolio
  • Drive Client Listening across the business ensuring the voice of the client is heard at all levels
  • Lead the Client Programmes team, acting as a role model for best practice business development in a professional services environment
  • Create and deliver client development training for partners and staff across the International business
  • Provide KAM support on a defined number of the firm’s most significant global client relationships
  • Manage the Client Programmes’ marketing budget and ensure allocated spend is effectively handled and that investment is targeted at agreed priorities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to partners and senior figureheads on client development initiatives

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Previous experience of working in a BD role within an international professional services environment is highly desirable
  • Be comfortable presenting the firm directly to clients
  • Have a first class inquisitive mind with strong consultative selling skills
  • Possess strong coaching and counseling skills
  • Be commercially savvy, have excellent communication skills and a flexible and collaborative management style
  • Be able to display a consistently positive attitude and adopt a “can do” approach as well as being able to work well on own initiative and as part of a wider team
  • Have an eye for detail and an analytical approach to grow client revenue and profitability
  • Have a strong affiliation to sector led development strategies
  • Be able to think strategically and to analyse issues so as to identify creative solutions
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness in both approach and delivery
  • Be able to lead, motivate and inspire remote and diverse individuals and teams
  • Be able to build and maintain strong relationships both within and outside the firm, acting as an effective brand ambassador for DLA Piper, and an internal change agent
  • Have a professional approach, which is demonstrated by a high level of customer service, a determination to get the job done and the ability to convey a message successfully.
