The ideal candidate will work as part of the Firm’s strong Communications team, playing a key role in the delivery, development and implementation of all corporate communications including; media relations, internal communications, campaigns, marketing-communications and social media – all of which are aligned to the Firm’s overall communications objectives and strategy.

The objective of the Communications team is to demonstrate AG’s quality service, imaginative delivery approach and impactful performance.  The team is committed to delivering excellent communications across the board; so a sense of ownership, a passion for news and an ability to deliver quality written content is a must.

The Communications team 

The role is part of a firm-wide corporate communications function currently comprising a Senior Media Relations Manager, [three] Corporate Communications Managers and a Communications Executive. The Senior Manager is focused on helping to increase market share by communicating individual experts (profile) capability, track record and sector expertise, as well as protecting and developing the firm’s corporate reputation.

Duties 

  • Protect & promote AG’s reputation and the Firm’s core proposition including its brand proposition: Quality, Imagination, Impact
  • Differentiate AG through its people and delivery approach, positioning the firm as a destination for talented individuals, outside the box thinking and creative solutions
  • Plan and deliver firm-wide campaigns that support key projects (sectors / division / key areas of focus) and ensure all content is engaging & creative and supports the firm’s brand proposition and sales agenda
  • Provide high-level counsel to senior stakeholders enabling them to respond effectively to opportunities
  • Media training
  • Produce, develop & manage the Firm’s independent recognition (awards & legal directories)
  • Build & maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders (international, national & regional)
  • Crisis communications – mitigating issues which may arise & ensuring a favourable outcome
  • Play a lead role in managing a busy press office, ensuring fundamentals are in place
  • Developing quality content for a range of channels (including internal & digital)
  • Managing, mentoring & supporting junior members of the team
  • Digital communications – ensuring a slick process that showcases the brand
  • Change management – managing large scale engagement & change projects internally & externally
  • Own and create content for firm-wide internal channels, ensuring they live the firm’s brand proposition
  • Deliver large projects and communications initiatives as part of an effective comms function
  • Leading & developing innovative communications strategies for key areas of the business – elevating our reputation and growing market share

Knowledge, skills and experience required (bespoke to role)

The Corporate Communications Manager is part of a highly effective central communications team which is deployed firm-wide to support the sales agenda across sector and practice areas, as well as firm-wide reputation and brand-building campaigns. Experience of the full communications mix across digital and external communications is important.

  • Passion for the full communications mix – with a proven track record in delivering quality, imaginative and impactful content for a range of audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong relationship building skills – including at a senior level
  • Strong network of media stakeholders across a variety of sector and areas
  • True news hound – ability to hunt out a story and deliver in a compelling manner
  • Social media content knowhow
  • Strength of character – ability to work under pressure and with a demanding internal client base
  • Existing relationships and ability to broker new relationships with key legal and business press
  • Ability to immerse oneself into AG’s proposition – and then find opportunities to promote it to external audiences
  • An interest in business and an ability to identify business stories and be able to bring these to life to show how AG is able to deliver better outcomes for clients
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and deliver outcomes
  • Comfortable moving from the strategic to tactical
